A Musical Journey

Moving Stories from Places Audiences Never See

For more than thirty years, Macheis Wind has used songwriting as a tool for emotional healing in the hidden worlds of domestic violence safe houses, homeless shelters, and facilities for at-risk teens, settings that traditional services often do not or cannot reach. Through nonprofit Guitar Tree, he helps people process trauma and build resilience by writing songs around their words, and his album This Place: Songs from a Women's Prison brought the voices of incarcerated women to a wider audience. When he performs, audiences experience the same journey, one that supports personal growth and empowerment.

"Macheis is doing great work for humanity."

Macheis Wind writes and performs songs that layer acoustic warmth, electric grit, and potent melodies, telling stories laced with nuance. Music found him when he was working as a medical intern in a rural hospital in Kenya. After long days on the wards he'd play under the stars and people were drawn every night by voice and guitar that carried across the village. From these impromptu performances in Africa, Macheis developed a career that spans rock, acoustic, and everything between, creating music that is "brilliant, artistic, and humanitarian" (Grammy-winning engineer / producer Andy Wallace; Jeff Buckley, Sheryl Crow).Macheis's latest album, As Innocent As You, is seven guitar-driven songs built on catchy melody and vintage electrics with lyrics about love, highway reckoning, and innocence that persists.Stream As Innocent As You now on all major platforms.
